For HP Smart Tank 583 product 4A8D7A, the Philippine specification identifies duplex printing as manual, with driver support. A listing that abbreviates this to “duplex” leaves out the part most relevant to someone wanting unattended two-sided printing.
Compare the job, not just the finished sheet
Two printers can both produce paper printed on both faces while asking different amounts of the user. For an occasional short form, manual participation may be acceptable. For repeated handout packs, the interruption may matter more than a feature-count comparison suggests. That is a workflow judgment; we have not timed this printer.
- Name the intended computer or mobile device and the document application.
- Ask for the supported two-sided procedure for that combination.
- Have the seller show what the user must do between sides, using a short non-sensitive sample.
- If the requirement is unattended reversal, require an explicit automatic-duplex specification for the alternative.
Do not copy a paper-reinsertion sequence from a different model. The driver-supported label establishes the manual-versus-automatic distinction, while the current instructions establish orientation and settings.
The scanner is another decision
The same HP page lists a flatbed-only scanner. Keep original handling separate from printing both sides. If the job starts with a stack of originals, describe how those pages should enter the scanner as well as how the final copies should emerge.
Our Brother DCP-T720DW guide makes this distinction with a different product: duplex output and an automatic document feeder answer different questions. It is a comparison method, not a claim that the two printers have identical features.
Evidence and purchase record

We exclude operating-system compatibility conclusions because the page contains differently scoped system lists. Confirm the current driver route separately; this article supplies no print test, speed rating, ink-cost estimate or stock result.
